Nowadays, apart from offices and houses, Ethernet networks has been implemented in the industry field with a variety of applications. However, the demands in industrial Ethernet
are different and more challenging than its house/office counterparts.
These components must be resistant to vibrations, humidity, dust, extreme temperatures, shock, overvoltages and other aggravating factors. Additionally, good transmission parameters can ensure the reliability of components (industrial cables, industrial plugs, industrial sockets), in other case poor quality components can cost money and time.

The IP code
The International Protection code (or IP code) clasiffies the degree of protection against objects like fingers, tools screws etc, or against water contact. The protection class is indicated by two digits which follow the IP, e.g IP44

For example IP44 means that this component has protection both against ingress of solid foreign bodies with a diameter over 1.0 mm and against water spray.
RJ45 cables for industrial applications

Components for field cabling
Industrial connectors and industrial plugs for modern applications need to be designed in such a way that they simplify processes and cope with faster data transmission. Alfaphonet recommends the connectors and plugs of Variant 1, 4, 5, 6, 14 and for generic cabling of factory automation machinery (Automation Island, ODVA) acc. CDV IEC 61918 Ed.2.0 in a robust metal or plastic design. The industrial plugs and connectors are standardized in the IEC 61076-3-106, designed to meet the demands of harsh industrial environments, guaranteeing protection class IP67 whether mated or unmated (using the IP67 protection cap). Furthermore, the modular principle - which is used on all connectors with STEADYTEC®-Technology - offer a wide range of products. The RJ45 plug and bulkhead inserts stand out due to high power reserves and offer transmission characteristics of Class EA acc. to FPDAM2:2009 to ISO/IEC 11801:2002. The FO plug and bulkhead inserts are available for glass and plastic-fibres and provide the most suitable solution for every application.
The IP44 industrial sockets are designed to support both RJ45 modules and FO connectors. With its compact size of 75x86x58 mm, the housing can not only accommodate up to two data outlets, but is also unbreakable. The grey housing is available with one or two cable entries. A splash-proof transparent label (21x59 mm) permits identification of the ports. The Terminal Outlet (TO) is completed tool-less by snapping in the corresponding modules and coupler into the single or double gang inserts. The SC Duplex adaptor can also additionally be mounted with screws.
FO wall boxes and splice boxes
Network cabling is being increasingly laid out up to the subscriber using future-orientated and interference-proof fiber optic cables. In the case of a star distribution inside a building or on a floor the fiber optic cabling does not require any active components for retransmission due to the long distance being possible. Thus, in most cases, 19" racks and the necessary separate room are not required. For the purpose of changing from multifiber industrial cables
to duplex or breakout cables the Wall Distributors or Wall Splice Boxes
are exceptionally suited. They are easy to install, lockable and offer a space-saving organisation as well as a perfect fibre protection. All accessories like glands, splice cassettes, distribution plates and FO adaptors can be variously combined and if ordered, also completely assembled.
